Durba Eastern Congo

  • Day 1
  • Day2
  • Day 3
  • Day 4
  • Day 5
Yesterday after the rain stopped many came to the stadium and the response to receiving Jesus in to their hearts was overwhelming. Such a hunger here for the Word of God. Thank you for praying for us and the people of Durba.
No rain today! But a hot hot day. Even in the heat the people of Durba came to hear God’s Word once again. As I preached a clear message on the power of the blood of Jesus the response was tremendous as people understood God’s word. There were some wonderful testimonies of healing how a man felt a bolt of lightning from heaven and he was able to breath freely once again. Each new convert came forward and counsellors helped them fill in a decision card and gave them a follow-up book.

God’s word is making an impact in the community here. Please continue to pray for the people of Durba. Tomorrow we start a 2 day meeting for the church leadership.

Our love from the field,

Roger Shireen and the RFM Team

Tonight as Benson walked around the grounds he met with whole families sitting outside their homes listening intently to the word of God. People responded to the Gospel far and wide. Wherever they could hear they responded. Many came forward and surrendered their lives to Jesus. The leaders seminar was well attended. We continue tomorrow please pray for us. Also please pray for Joseph our truck driver down with Malaria.

Life in Durba is described by the name of the local bus company “La Vie  est  un combat” for so many life is a battle.  But in this battle so many are turning to Jesus.   On Saturday we saw how many responded to the Gospel message wanting to receive what Jesus has accomplished for them on the cross.

We rejoice that the grace of God is opening so many peoples eyes to see the truth and respond to the truth.

Joseph has made a remarkable recovery and will soon be at full strength again. Thank you our prayer partners for helping us to do this work.  your prayer is that carries us.

Although the main meeting was rained out, the church next to the ground was packed out to capacity. The people sang and sang and I thought this might have been a how it was in the days of the Welsh Revival. The Congolese voices raised in praises to God filled the church and as the rain pounded down on the tin roof it was like a revival atmosphere was in the place as the Spirit of God was poured upon us. It was almost dark inside and nobody could be seen leading the singing but it was the Spirit of God who took control . People cried and knelt in prayer and we prayed for the Holy Spirit to fill them. It was so refreshing to be in a church where God was with us. In the morning Roger spoke in the Africa Inland Church and I spoke in Chrisco Church. The messages were well received . It has been a wonderful week, we sense the Lord has done something very powerful in many hearts and the fires of revival have been lit. We leave in the morning for the neighbouring town. Please pray for us. Our hearts are full of joy this night. Our love from the mission field, Roger Shireen and all the team

John 1:14 (NKJV)

The Word Becomes Flesh
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
