Let’s open God’s word.
Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
He died to save and wash away sin, to redeem us from our aimless empty lives. His death purchased our freedom from the bondage of satan and the chains of sin. He came to give us life and life abundantly. Because of His great sacrifice, He made us His very own people, His power works in us making us more and more like Him.
We are sanctified by his blood, sanctified by the washing of the water of the word. Separated, consecrated unto Him and brought near. This is only possible because of the Blood that was shed at Calvary.
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
When we come to an understanding just how much Jesus accomplished for us by the shedding of His blood, my response to His goodness is thankfulness and a desire to live for Him. We become zealous for good works.
He gave Himself for us. Long long ago before we were even born, even before the foundation of the world. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were all planning our redemption. Each one of them in total agreement fulfilled their part in our redemption.
God so loved the world He gave his Son. Jesus was willing to come. Willing to suffer and die. The Holy Spirit drew us, and He opened our eyes to see the eternal truth. The wonderful plan of salvation involves the whole Godhead. Father Son and Holy Spirit.
How secure we are when we know we are saved by the will of the Father.
John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Jesus who came from heaven to earth. He came to die on the cross. The righteous for the unrighteous. The one who had no sin to die for sinners. He died on the cross for the sin of men and women from every tribe and every nation and every Culture.
1 John 4:14. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. The next verse confirms this truth Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the son of God.
God so loved the world. Not the mountains and the seas… But men and woman fallen sinful society. He gave His only son to the world.
Nothing earthly could redeem me- not silver not gold. The Law could not redeem me. We are saved only by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ.
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
He gave Himself our redeemer. Because we needed to be redeemed. We were lost without hope. Until Jesus came. Original sin had made every one of us slaves. Bondage was our portion. We were blinded and ignorant of God’s ways. Sin separated us from God. There was enmity between man and God. We were hostile towards Him. Deserving death.
But Grace came to us in the person of Jesus Christ. He took our punishment upon the cross. He suffered and died. So that I could be justified freely by His death.
There was no other way, for sin to be dealt with, in the courts of Justice in heaven, Sin had to be punished. And Jesus Christ took this punishment, which was death, He died for us on the cross, so that we don’t have to die.
1 John 3:5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
Many fail to understand why they need redemption. Have you understood that you are Lost? That every person alive on the face of the earth is in need of Redemption.
Let me tell you about our redeemer. Our redeemer is strong, our redeemer is mighty his name is the Lord of hosts He will plead our case. For I know that my redeemer lives. Just let me pause a moment here. Can you say my redeemer. Have you personally experienced redemption are you free?
Oh yes I’m redeemed I am a member of this and this church. I even have a baptism certificate. But have you been redeemed? You were a slave to sin, practising every evil thing, walking in darkness. But can you say the precious blood of Jesus has set me free I am no longer a slave to sin; I no longer walk in darkness. I no longer walk in un forgiveness, rather I freely forgive others. I no longer steal, I do honest work, I no longer lie I tell the truth.
He has made me new in Christ Jesus. That’s what it means to be born again. None of my good behaviour earns me salvation I am saved by grace alone. This grace compels me to live a life pleasing to God. He is working in me purifying me and making me zealous for good works. I am the Lord’s treasure. When I was in rebellion I was under the wrath of God, but He redeemed me and made me a holy child of God unto the Lord, we are His people a chosen people, A special people He values and treasures above all the peoples of the earth.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;
- Are you believing not unbelieving
- Are you separated from the world, you are no longer one of them
- Are you Godly not ungodly?
- Are you His own special people? A people who bring glory to God in newness of life, a people who proclaim His praises not just with their lips but with their whole lives. Are our hearts filled with an overwhelming gratitude? Do I so desire to bring Glory to Him?
The work or redemption is so deep and complete in my heart, that seeking God, or seeking my own happiness become so joined together as almost one. That If I seek my own happiness, it brings glory to the Father.
Seeking the Father is my great source of Joy. I’m not 2 different people. I have new life in Christ. What He loves I Love. What He hates I hate. I’m redeemed and He is working in me making me more and more like Him, until that glorious day when I shall see Him and be like Him, and dwell in His presence for ever and ever.
Our redemption is an eternal redemption.
Hebrews 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
We are cleansed to serve the Living God for all eternity, to partake of the heavenly blessings for ever and ever. We are Partakers of the Eternal Covenant. We have the promise of eternal Inheritance.
Luke 1:68 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people.
I’m redeemed by His precious blood. I will join in singing with the host of Heaven.
Revelation 5:8-9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
Sadly, the Gospel message is not good news to some.
Some are so focused on this world’s things, to them good news is only something they can own and hold and see. The Gospel is not precious to them, the Redeeming power of the blood of Jesus is not precious.
Understand this. To determine how precious something is, depends very much on how much it is need at the time.
For example. A man who is lost in the desert, day after day he gets more desperate, he gets more hungry and so very thirsty. With all of his strength he keeps walking hoping to get out alive. Now suppose If he were to find a big sack full of money, would that be precious to Him? Although it is very valuable it won’t really be of any use in the middle of the desert. So we ask then, what would be very precious For sure the very thing he needs would be Precious, to find water and to find bread. Water is the one thing needed to save his life. So, we determine the value of something by how much it is needed at that moment of time. The situation determines the value.
All that is so valuable now is of little value on the day that we stand before the Lord.
On that day to answer before the Lord, to whom nothing is hidden, nothing concealed everything open and bare. Every sin we have ever committed, every good thing we neglected to do, every thought. On that day when we all must give an answer to the Lord. The one valuable most needed thing in this situation is not wealth, not position, not power. That cannot help us. That can’t save our lives.
Yet it is the Blood of the Eternal covenant that is valuable. The blood that paid the redemption price for us. The Blood that washed every sin away. The glad tidings of the Gospel, that which Christ Jesus did for us is what will be valuable.
How foolish to think the judgement day will never come! That is as foolish as saying that we will never die, we will never grow old and go to the grave. No, we all know that no one lives forever. What happens when we close our eyes on earth for the last time? Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,
You realise that you will have to give an answer to the Lord. It is the Lord who has allowed you to realise this. Do you feel drawn to believe the Gospel, It is the Holy Spirit chasing after you. The very best thing you can now do is to come to the King of kings humbly on your knees. His blood will cleanse you.
I close with this bible verse. James 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Oh draw near to God- cleanse your hands, ye sinners purify your hearts. How? Believe the Gospel and repent of your sins.
”Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
