Matthew 11:28   I’ll show you how to take a real rest.” Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.

There the entire purpose and reason  of Christ’s coming is expressed in a few lines; how the anxious and worried – The sick and the suffering- the bruised and afflicted- those who find it too much can come – and He will Give rest.

The simplicity of the invitation.

The Lord Jesus said, ” Come unto me.  He did not say sacrifice – He did not say fast- He did not say first clean up- He just said COME.  Come and I will clean you – God loves sinners but he hates sin.  He will accept and forgive any sinner that asks – but he will not accept the sin.   Repentance (turning to Jesus) releases forgiveness. Believing in Jesus Having faith in Jesus.  Trusting Jesus to save you

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:8

The extent of the invitation

The Lord Jesus said, ” Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”   The cares of this world are common both to City and Village palace and shack to rich and poor; to educated and uneducated; to the man or woman who sits alone in a hut in the forest, and to the skilled city worker.

Christ’s invitation welcomes the whole world “For God so loved the world. .

All who labor and are heavy laden-with care, with fear, with toil- ALL may respond to the Invitation of Christ, and be certain to receive a welcome.  John 6:37 (AMPC) 37 All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me].

The Surety of the Invitation

The Lord Jesus said, ” Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Life is filled with disappointments, and even the most reliable have a habit of failing and letting you down; Promises broken and not kept.  Circumstances like vapors that come and go but here God says I will.  The one who cannot lie – the one that never changes says COME and I will.  Even although all else may have failed God says he will.

The Lord Jesus said, ” Come unto me . . . and I will give you rest.” That promise was given long long ago it has faced  to the tests of time and circumstance, yet during the long time since He first uttered the words I WILL, no voice has ever charged Him with inability to Honor His promise. The promises of God are always true. His word is settled FOREVER it changes not.  Hebrews 13:5 (ESV Strong’s)

5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

He who comes I will never refuse. John 6:37  All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. Actually the meaning includes, Ill hold you tight and never let you go.

He who comes will never hunger and thirst.  John 6:35  Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

The Lord Jesus said, ” Come unto me . . . and I will give you rest.” Rest cannot be bought with earth’s currency, it is of God. It is not advice freely given; it is not sympathy sincerely expressed; it is not financial assistance

  • Rest is healing for a woundedheart
  • Comfort for a troubled mind
  • Fellowship for a lonely spirit
  • Relief beyond description  for a haunted soul.
  • Rest is dawn after midnight,
  • Calm after storm
  • Laughter after tears
  • Glad reunion after heart-breaking separation.
  • Rest is heaven’s gift to a weary world.

No government can supply it; no engineer can manufacture it ; no church can claim a monopoly on its distribution. It belongs exclusively to Christ, and He alone can give it to others. He said, “Come unto me . . . and I will give you rest.”

No night sky is so completely clouded that through the night not even a single star is visable- if one star is visible there is hope, and likewise no life is completely dark that if Just one word can be heard hope will arise –  COME.

How do I comecoming means I leave one place and go to another.  I enter his presence- only through the blood – the new and a living way Christ opened.

By Grace Through Faith in The finished work of the cross.  Romans 3:24 (KJV) 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Freely we receive  The gift of Grace made available through JESUS Not by works lest any man should boast.   Not by what we do but by what He has done on the cross already for us.   Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
