Bouansa Congo Report

Bouansa Crusade Republic of Congo 22nd -26th September 2009

We arrived in Brazzaville in record time, due to the newly introduced direct flight by Kenya Airways. We were escorted to the VIP waiting room before boarding our onward flight to Dolisi.   Our hired taxi was waiting to take us on to Nkayi just 75 Km away, where we planned to spend the night.  Two hours three hours four hours five hours and we are just seeing trees as we wound our way along a narrow track in the pitch dark.  Our taxi driver had taken a wrong turn!  We were lost in the forest far from any village when suddenly a man jumped out in the road, a man or an angel I am not sure, but he told us to turn back we were going the wrong way!  Later we found out we were on the road to Gabon!  We arrived late at the inn. The hotel staff had already gone to bed.  They graciously woke up and served us our meal that had been kept.   Although now cold it was a welcome sight.

Bouansa had never ever had a Gospel crusade. The six churches in the city all participated and supported the crusade so wonderfully. Pastors travelled in from surrounding towns and villages to be in the seminar.  There was a very definite spiritual hunger for the word of God.  It’s estimated that the town has between 17 and 20 thousand people.  However there are only approximately 800  believers.  As the Gospel rang out night after night I was amazed at how receptive the people were.  During the week we estimate that as many as 8000 people prayed the prayer of salvation.  The small band of faithful counsellors  were able to register just over 800 decisions for Jesus as well as give out  the follow up book Now That You Are Saved in French.

A new beginning – The blood of Jesus washes us and makes all things new.  There was such a presence of the Holy Spirit as I preached this.  People were fed up of their old lives and wanted a new beginning.  One lady testified saying how she had left church  many years ago and now met Jesus tonight. Oh she never knew it could be this good ,now she wanted to serve Him forever and never never leave Him again.  The people met the Lord and desired to follow Him.

On the road to Bouansa we met some of the pastors who had worked with us on previous crusades.  What a joy to see Pastor Gabiu Iloye, a pastor in the city of Nkayi.   He told us how his church had grown to over 750 people since the crusade.   He was doing crusades himself in the villages surrounding the city.

A dear lady from Madingou had been barren for 8 years desiring a child.  The Lord touched her during the crusade in Madingou opening her barren womb.  Soon after the crusade she conceived and gave birth to healthy Samuel.   As we were passing through Madingou on the way to Bouansa, her husband met us with the news.   God is so faithful we give Him all the praise.  Another lady 28 years old who had been married for 5 years could not have a child.  She had written her prayer request on a paper and put it in our prayer box.  On the final night of the crusade I and all the pastors pray and agree over all the needs represented in the box.  This dear lady conceived and gave birth to a healthy baby.  She travelled all the way to Bouansa to give thanks to the Lord.  (See Attached Photo)

Day1 What a wonderful start tonight with a very real turning to Jesus. Several people came up to testify how Jesus had saved them.  One lady told us how she had not stepped in a church for over two years and said, “Now I want to serve Jesus forever.”  Healing flowed like a mighty river touching people everywhere.  A man who had had an accident causing both his hands to be paralysed received healing and was able to open and close his hands and hold a bible.  Chronic back pain instantly healed, a man with severe pain in the chest testified how the pain just vanished!  What was so wonderful tonight was the strong presence of Jesus.

Day 2. The crowd seemed to swell to almost double!   I preached on Jesus making all things new.   Again there was a great number of salvations, people called on the name of Jesus from the bottom of their hearts.  A man had an amazing miracle, he was so ashamed at first to testify but told us how he  had 3 testicals!  Last night the Lord healed me he said all is now normal.

Day 3 An old lady makes her way to the stage to testify.  `Oh this is so wonderful, I never never want to leave God, I have accepted Jesus Christ tonight and I want to serve him forever and ever.  It’s so wonderful I never knew it could be this good`.  She said.  People connected to every word I preached and there was a great draw in the Spirit.  It was clear that everyone understood the Gospel and as I gave the altar call without reservation every hand shot up.  A great cry from the bottom of their hearts went up to heaven and Jesus saved.  The presence of Jesus saturated the field.  I noticed a lady with a heavy basket of firewood passing by.   The Spirit of God drew her in and she stopped unloaded the firewood and sat on the outskirts of the field listening to the word.  A lady having great difficulty to walk to the meeting was healed and ran and jumped and danced on the stage.

Day 4 Holy Spirit day.  Just like on the day of Pentecost when there was a sound of a mighty rushing wind and tongues of fire. The same wind blew across the field and the same fire fell.  Believers everywhere were filled with the power of God.

Day 5 As I took the microphone and began preaching it began to drizzle.  Oh the rain got stronger and stronger but the people refused to go.    The rain got into our mixer causing all sorts of noise on the PA.  However I was still able to finish the message and give an altar call.   The people were singing and dancing in the rain as we waved good bye.  The people of Bouansa received the word from God.

In the morning seminars Shireen and I taught the Pastors and leaders.  We told them to read their bibles every day pray and grow spiritually by feeding on the word every day.  We gave to all the Pastors a French daily devotional book.  Faith to Faith.  For 5 days of ministering the Word of God we took 6 days of travel.  We thought of the early missionaries who pioneered in these areas.  We arrived back exhausted physically but full of joy in our spirits.

Now we have 2 more crusades this year in Kenya.  We humbly ask you to stand with us in prayer and giving, to help us reach people with the message of the Kingdom.

Thank you for helping us spread the Word of God in the Congo.  The souls reaped are to your account.

Much love

Roger and Shireen West
