Dear Prayer Partners,
Thank you for your support and love throughout this year. Together, we have invaded the very gates of hell by rescuing and helping scattered and cast down sheep. The reason that the Son of God came was to destroy the work of the devil. Nothing is more effective in doing this than the Glorious Gospel. Thank you for helping us to reach so many with the love of God. We now approach our final meeting of the year, and are expecting another mighty harvest. Please remember us in prayer.
Madingou Countdown. There are now only days left, before we begin this final meeting in the city of Madingou, which has a population of about 17,000 people, of which only around 300 are believers, who are scattered across the city in ten churches. Bernadette, our organiser, is on the ground in an incredibly hot Madingou. She has mobilised and has the participation of most of these churches. The urgency of the hour in which we live has compelled us to put aside our usual way of planning. We have not taken into consideration the rainy season, which is now upon us. We cannot wait for better weather; if we get wet, we get wet but the Gospel must be preached. The Gospel of the kingdom brings life and gives people a hope and a future.
The Gospel of the Kingdom. We note that Jesus went about doing good and healing all those who were sick and oppressed by the devil. He was so full of compassion when He saw the hungry that He fed them; when He saw the blind, He opened their eyes. A tear in our eye brought a tear to His. Yet we must never forget that the greatest work that Jesus ever did was what He accomplished on the cross at Calvary for me and for you. Jesus wants people to know what He has done for them. We are committed to telling them; that is the main focus of what we do, but it does not mean that our hearts are not touched when we see a mother with hungry children. Just a simple loaf of bread or a bag of sugar or flour can make a difference. RFM is committed to preaching and showing the Love of God to individuals in a practical way.
Multiplication. One can chase 1,000, but two can chase 10,000. For years, Shireen and I have been praying for land on which to build and develop a mission base in Kenya. It is our vision to build up and train Evangelists, and to have a base from which many teams can move out into the harvest field and gather in the harvest, as well as a base that also serves as a prayer and intercession centre for Africa - a base to equip and train the next generation of African Evangelists. We are now actively praying and looking for suitable land to develop this training centre.
DRC conflict. The situation is threatening peace and stability in the entire zone, and there is a very real probability of this conflict drawing in the surrounding nations. Please continue to pray with us for peace in the entire zone - safety for mothers and children - for normality to return to the city. It is very much on our hearts to return to Goma in order to take in practical help, and to visit the camps to share the Love of Jesus. We are praying with regard to all the details and the timing. In the meanwhile, if you would like to give a gift towards the suffering in Goma please contact us for details. I received the below from a dear brother in Goma.
I wanted to share this with you. It is a true story that happened to a lady with her baby when they were running from their villages.
They had spent three days without eating and her baby was crying. She decided to take some soft soil and mix it up in water with little salt. As the baby was asking for porridge, she gave the mixture to her. This is what is really happening here in my country. People are suffering because of this war, which has been imposed to us. Please keep on praying for my country D. R. Congo. Life in the refugee camps is so terrible that there is no word to explain what is taking place there.
May the Lord bless you as you are thinking about these people in your prayers.
Yours in Christ Jesus - Jonathan.
More workers are needed to carry the LOVE and compassion of Jesus into the ripe harvest fields.
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest”.
The multitudes desperately wanted to hear, and they demonstrated this desire by spending the whole day listening to Jesus as He taught. They wanted and needed the words of life, which they knew Jesus had. However, Jesus, apart from being moved with compassion because the crowds were scattered and weary, was also moved because there were so few to tell them the Good News. Such a ripe harvest but so few labourers.
Yours in Christ Roger & Shireen West.

Democratic Republic of Congo: Fears for safety of civilians as violent clashes erupt 30 Oct 2008 13:31:27 GMT Source: Irish Red Cross - Ireland (Crois Dhearg na h ireann) Reuters and AlertNet are not responsible for the content of this article or for any external internet sites. The views expressed are the author’s alone. irishredcr logo “The situation appears chaotic and dangerous. Our concerns, based on media reports are for the survival of the tens of thousands of ordinary people who have already fled their homes carrying whatever they can, many of whom have been walking with little or nothing to eat or drink for days,x94 said Noel Wardick of the Irish Red Cross.
He noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross which is in Goma has reminded all parties of their legal obligations to respect the lives and dignity of people who are not involved in combat.
The fighting between government troops and the armed opposition in North Kivu province intensified recently forcing tens of thousands of people to leave their homes. They are in urgent need of temporary shelter, water, food and medical supplies. In Goma, a city on the Rwandan border, and in other affected areas, the situation is tense, as inhabitants are uncertain about how the latest developments may affect them.
The International Committee of the Red Cross intends to reinforce its surgical team to support the hospitals in and around Goma. As soon as conditions permit, the ICRC is ready to support the displaced population around Goma with food, drinking water and essential household items. Furthermore, the organisation plans to reinforce its presence in Kirumba (Lubero region), in the northern part of North Kivu, to assist the displaced who have sought shelter there.
